1
Find a photo or a design that you want your candy mold to be shaped like. Choosing objects that don't have lots of nooks and crannies for your first project is probably a good idea until you get the hang of it. For example, try starting with a heart or a star rather then an animal or an intricate design.
-
2
Mold your oven-safe clay into the object you want to create. Consider the size and thickness of your mold when you are carving your shape because that will be the size and thickness of your finished candy.
-
-
3
Place your oven safe clay into the oven and bake it for the designated time listed on the clay's package. Let cool.
-
4
Mix your silicone putty together to create a chemical reaction. Be sure to use it within a minute of mixing.
-
5
Cover your object with a thin layer of silicone putty. Be sure to cover the entire object so you create a cavity in which to pour your melted chocolate, ice or jello. Leave a bump of silicone putty on the bottom of the object so as not to distort the object you originally carved.
-
6
Place the object on top of a non-porous surface as it cures. Allow the silicone to harden for as long as the package indicates.
-
7
Remove the original clay object from the candy mold and clean the mold. Fill the silicone mold with melted chocolate to make candy.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to save time, skip the clay carving and find an object that you can press into the silicone putty. Just ensure that there is enough depth to the object you select so there is room to pour your melted chocolate.
