How to Start a Blog on Google

Blogger, Google's blog service, is free and easy to use. Many people use blogs to keep in touch with friends and relatives, to showcase their writing, as on online diary, or to discuss politics or their hobbies. Starting a blog is easy, and Blogger allows you to design the look and feel without any knowledge of advanced computer skills.

Instructions

1. Got to Blogger.com to sign up for your blog. This will also be the site you will visit to log in to your blog after you have created it. Google calls this page your "dashboard."

2. Click on the "Create a Blog" icon. If you already have a Google account, you can sign in using your same login name and password.

3. Fill in your personal information. You'll be asked for an email address, a password and a display name. The display name is the name you choose to show up on your blog as your author name. You could use your real name, or if you prefer to be anonymous you can use a pseudonym.

4. Choose the title and the URL for your blog. They do not have to be the same, but many people like them to be the same or similar. Your URL is the address people will use to find your blog. All Google blogs will share the last part of the address, but you can customize the first part of the address.

5. Choose a design theme. There are many options to choose from. You can change this later, so it's OK to play around to see what you like the best.

6. Click on "Start Blogging" and begin composing posts. Posts are the content that shows up on your blog. This is where you write in whatever information you'd like to see on your blog and publish it.
