How to Make Tarragon Red Wine With Vinegar

Tarragon is an aromatic leaf with a licorice-anise scent and taste. It's used in sauces and salads, and even in a tea used to treat insomnia. Tarragon vinegar is not only a lovely addition to salad dressings, it's actually suggested that a tablespoon of tarragon vinegar taken before a meal will help with digestion-related problems. Things You'll Need

  • 3 to 5 sprigs of tarragon 1 to 2 peeled garlic cloves Peel of 2 lemons, chopped into 1-inch squares 5 whole peppercorns 1 pint red wine vinegar Cheesecloth 1-pint jar (optional) Medium-sized bowl or container Funnel (optional)

Instructions

      Take the empty pint jar and place the tarragon sprigs gently inside. Or, put the red wine vinegar in another container and place the tarragon sprigs into the empty red wine vinegar bottle.

      Add garlic, lemon peel and peppercorns to the jar/bottle.

      Fill/refill the jar/bottle with the red wine vinegar. Use the funnel if necessary.

      Cover the jar/bottle, and place in a cool place for at least one month.

      Strain through cheesecloth into another container, then place the strained liquid back into the jar/bottle, using the funnel if necessary.

      Place one tarragon sprig back into the bottle for a decorative accent, if desired.
