How to Write in a 4-Year-Old's Birthday Card

Save

Writing is a fun way to express yourself each year to your child. When writing to your 4-year-old in the birthday card, stay fun and simple. Expressing your love to your child in the card is very rewarding. Tell him how much you love him, and how proud of him you are.

  • Show your love. Express how much you love your child. Draw hearts with a smiley face in them and open arms for a hug.

  • Make up some fun games in the card. For instance, create a "guess who" game: "I am red and on a corner," and then make the answer on the back upside down, "a fire hydrant."

  • Draw balloons, streamers, smiley faces and fun objects. Draw or stencil your child's favorite cartoon character.

  • Include words that sound like their cartoon character is wishing her a happy birthday. For example, if cookie monster is her favorite, then write, "Me want cookies, protect your birthday cake, me want! Mmm mmm mmm."

  • Write riddles or poems in the card. For example, "Roses are red, violets are blue, it's your day, now let's play!"

  • Write how proud you are of your child. Include how much you enjoy spending time with him, and recent achievements in being a "big boy," such as going to bed on time, cleaning up his room and being obedient.
