How to Fix a Bad Seal on a Clothes Dryer

In turn, those clothes spinning around and around in tepid air will take much longer to dry, using more energy and costing more in dollars and sense. Does this Spark an idea?

Determine if the seal should be replaced. Visually inspect it to see if it's loose, worn or frayed. Then, turn on the dryer and use tissue paper to circle the seam around the seal. If the paper is being sucked inward, cool air can also make its way into the dryer cavity; your seal should be replaced.

Order the correct seal and non flammable adhesive directly from the manufacturer or go to your local hardware store. You will need the make, model number and part type. Different brands hide their model numbers in different locations. Look inside the door frame; on the cabinet side panel; behind the front access panel, or on the back of the machine in the upper corner.

Apply adhesive to the new seal and fit to the door frame, pressing firmly in place. Be certain to securely fit completely around door. A hair dryer can again be used to heat the adhesive and make it easier to work with.

5
Allow to dry completely before plugging the appliance back in and operating it.
