Things You'll Need:
- Paper and pen or stick to keep tally in the beach sand Bucket or some type of bag Glue, tape or string Things that have washed up on the beach
-
Step 1
Use what you have on hand for any beach house game. The object is to relax and have fun where you are. It's a waste of time, energy and natural resources to run to town to purchase items. Consider using driftwood, sea glass and personal items that have found their way to the beach from the lake or ocean.
-
Step 2
Create a beachcombing game. Agree on the rules before beginning. Will each person find their own items or will items be located as a team? Determine the limit of time spent on beachcombing. A half hour or an hour can go by pretty quickly when searching for items like a particular type of shell or sea glass. When the allotted time has passed, all beachcombers should assemble and count the items to determine the winner.
-
Step 3
Create a keepsake game. All those great items you found during your beachcombing game can be assembled to create a keepsake. This is a game where everyone is a winner. When the keepsake is finished, have the creator initial or sign the bottom of the keepsake.
-
Step 4
Complete the alphabet game. Establish a time limit, then go out to the area around the beach house and see how many letters of the alphabet can be used. (This can be done singly or as a team.) For example, seashell would be listed under "s" and mailbox would be listed under "m." Decide whether to allow multiple items for each letter of the alphabet.
-
Step 5
Create a seafood meal, using the beach as a kitchen countertop and sand as an ingredient. This game is a nice alternative to making sandcastles. Use your hands, shells, driftwood or other items found on the beach to design beach meals. Some ideas include grilled fish, boiled crab and seafood soufflé. Decorate your meals with seaweed or whatever you find on the beach.
-
Step 6
Tell a story about your stay at the beach house using one sight, one sound and one smell that you associate with your beach house stay. The trick is to use all three in one sentence. Then the next person adds the same type of sentence. If there are only two of you, alternate sentences. Before you know it, you'll have a hilarious or thoughtful story you will remember for a long time.
