Instructions

  1. Mixture

    • 1

Put on the latex or plastic gloves before you begin mixing to avoid staining your skin.

    • 2

Pour the packet of Kool-Aid and 1 cup of water into the mixing bowl. Mix with the spoon until the Kool-Aid is fully dissolved.

    • 3

For longer or thicker hair, add another packet of Kool-Aid and another cup of water. Stir until fully dissolved.

    Application

    • 4

Unroll a large sheet of plastic wrap and set it next to the bowl. You will be using this to wrap your hair after you've dyed it.

    • 5

Dip your dry hair into the bowl, preferably over a sink or a towel. Use your hands to coat your hair in the Kool-Aid dye.

    • 6

Being careful not to drip (the Kool-Aid will stain carpets and clothing), set the plastic wrap on the back of your head and wrap it around like a turban so all of your hair is contained.

    • 7

For extra protection from drips, wrap a towel over the plastic wrap turban- style and let the dye soak for at least 10 minutes for a muted color and 20 to 30 minutes for a deeper color.

    Rinse

    • 8

Remove the towel and plastic wrap over a sink or tub to avoid dripping on the floor.

    • 9

Rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear.

    • 10

Repeat this process until you have reached your desired color effect.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a more brilliant shade of color, try bleaching your hair first. Bright colors such as red, blue and purple are more dramatic on lighter hair.

  • Kool-Aid will stain carpet, clothing and skin. Make sure your surroundings are properly protected before dyeing your hair.
