How to Install a SIM Card in a Blackberry 8820

A SIM card, or Subscriber Identity Module, is a storage device used in Blackberry devices to hold data. That data is what identifies the user and allows him to access the Blackberry network. Thus, it is often neccassary to switch SIM cards when upgrading to a new Blackberry or when you use more than one. The installalation process varies, depending on the model.

      Lay the Blackberry on a flat surface and turn it upside down, so the back of the device is facing up.

      Slide off the back of the device by pressing down on the release tab and sliding the back of the Blackberry toward you. You will see the SIM card holder to the left of the device, just above the battery bay.

      Unlock the SIM card holder by pressing down on the release tab and flipping the top of the holder up. The holder should now read "Unlocked."

      Insert the SIM card into the holder, making sure that the gold contact points of the card line up with the metal contact points in the holder.

      Lock the card into place by flipping the holder top back into place. Press down gently until the holder reads "Locked."

      Slide the back of the Blackberry back into place. The SIM card is now installed in the Blackberry.
