Make computer generated greeting cards

You probably already have everything you need to make computer-generated greeting cards on your computer. You may want more features and ease of use than they offer. If so, many options exist to assist you in making computer-generated greeting cards. Depending on the amount of time, effort and money you want to spend, choose to either make cards with your existing software, make computer generated greeting cards online, download freeware to make cards or purchase specialized greeting card programs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer Printer and paper Internet (possibly)
  1. Step 1

Make computer generated greeting cards using the software on your computer. Make a template in Microsoft Word or a similar word processing program using the draw table tool. Create a four-by-four table for a quarter-fold card. Design the front of the card in the lower right box. Design the inside text and graphics of the card in the top left box. Flip the design in this box upside down when you are finished, designing it so that it prints correctly for folding over into a quarter-fold card. Leave the other two boxes of the table blank or place graphics or text in them. Remember to flip anything in the top two boxes of the table upside down before printing. The top right box of the table folds to the inside and the bottom left box becomes the back of the card. Save this as a template for repeated use.

  2. Step 2

Make computer-generated greeting cards with the templates already installed in some programs. Find card templates ready to personalize with graphics, text, photos and more in Microsoft Publisher, Apple iWork Pages or iPhoto, or online for Microsoft Word. In Word, create a new document then choose templates online from the menu that appears at the right of the page. Microsoft online templates offer several greeting card choices to download and edit for your personal use.

  3. Step 3

Make computer-generated cards online then print, email or download them. Many free sites exist such as the ones listed in Resources section below. Some sites offer more features and access with paid memberships however some have many free features. Myfuncards.com, a free site, allows users to upload their own photos into cards then print or email them.

  4. Step 4

Use downloadable shareware or freeware as another way to make computer-generated greeting cards. Sites such as downloadthat.com list many freeware and shareware programs for creating greeting cards. Download these to your computer and use without the necessity of internet access. Read any reviews available, then choose a program with high ratings by those who have tried it.

  5. Step 5

You might choose to buy a greeting card program from the local discount or computer store. These programs may offer more features than the other choices. Be sure to research these programs online before purchasing in order to make a wise choice. With all the free ways to generate greeting cards available, you want to be sure that a purchased program delivers high quality results and extra features not available to you free.
