Cartridge pool filters are among the three kinds of pool filters available. The cartridge is easier to clean and maintain than the other two (D.E. and sand). Cartridge filters help clean in-ground and above-ground pools by filtering out debris and small dirt particles. They need to be cleaned monthly and every five years the filter should be changed.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Add the cartridge filter into the tank. Turn it until it locks into the tank. This is circular sponge type material filter. Then fit the O-ring inside the lid top. There is a groove inside the lid that the O-ring fits into. It is a thin rubber circle that helps prevent water leakage.

  2. Step 2

Put on the cartridge filter's tank lid. Fit it onto the tank and turn it clockwise until it locks. Flip the safety latch located on the side of the filter to the down position. This will lock the lid into place.

  3. Step 3

Place the pressure gauge on the lid. there is a circular opening where the pressure gauge is snapped into. Place the air relief valve on the lid. the air relief valve is half the size of the pressure gauge and also needs to be snapped into the opening on the lid which is sits on the opposite side of the gauge.

  4. Step 4

Place the cartridge filter into the hole next to the in-ground pool or place it onto a leveled area of sand next to the above-ground pool.

  5. Step 5

Connect the pump. At the base of the filter there is a connection for the tube of the pump to fit into. The pump will be next to the filter.
