Building your own race car is a time-consuming, difficult task. That's why buying a used race car can be a quick and easy way to get into racing or replace an existing car. You just have to know where to look for race cars that are for sale or trade.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access Race car magazines Race tracks
  1. Step 1

    Decide what type of used race car you're looking for. There are basically formula cars, sports racers and production racers.

  2. Step 2

    Locate used race cars that are for sale or trade by searching the Internet. Some sites that publish classified ads are the Racers Network, AT Motorsport and eBay Motors (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

    Subscribe to publications that are dedicated to race cars, such as Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. If you're interested in older race cars, subscribe to Vintage & Historic Racing News Magazine (see Resources below). Check their classified ads sections.

  4. Step 4

    Visit local tracks and meet drivers, car owners and other racing enthusiasts. Ask about used race cars that are for sale or trade.

  5. Step 5

    Check the "Automobile" section in the classified ads section of local newspapers to find used race cars.
