Step 1
Log in to BarbieGirls.com (see Resources). Creating an account is free. Children who are age 13 and under should obtain a parent's permission. The system advises users to create a login name that is not their own name and a password that they share with no one.

Choose "Create a Character." The character's name is created during the login process, but you now will be able to create the character's look.

Step 3
Select "Choose a Look." This feature allows you to choose the skin tone, hair color (and hair style), eye shape (and eye color) and type of lips. Some items require VIP membership, but most are free.

Select "Dress Up and Accessories." This allows you to dress the character in a variety of clothing, shoes and accessories (including purses, jewelry and glasses).

Step 5
Save character. Save your online Barbie doll, and you'll be ready to design your room. The website features social interaction, dress-up and communication with other girls playing online. You can design your room, picking out everything from the furniture to the view.
