Make a Ribbon Bow Tie
-
1
Cut a 10-inch length of ribbon.
-
2
Cut an 8-inch length of ribbon.
-
-
3
Fold each length of ribbon in half length-wise to make a loop.
-
4
Place the larger loop on the bottom and the smaller loop on top of the larger loop.
-
5
Staple the loops together in the center.
-
6
Cut another length of ribbon that is just slightly longer than the looped pieces. Notch each end of this ribbon by cutting diagonally in from each corner to meet at a point in the center. This will result in a triangle shape being cut out of each end. Place this ribbon underneath the looped ribbon. Center it and staple it to the ribbon loops.
-
7
Cut a 3-inch length of ribbon. Wrap this piece around the center of the bow and glue the ends on the underside of the bow. Trim any excess ribbon.
-
8
Make the neckband by measuring the circumference of your neck. Add two inches to this measurement and cut a length of ribbon to this measurement. Hand-stitch the bow to the center of this neckband length of ribbon. Add a small square of self-adhesive Velcro to each end of the neckband for attaching the neckband of the bow tie at the back of the neck.
