Instructions

    • 1

Find an image of a basketball online and download it. You will be using it as a reference. Open a new document of Photoshop. Then open your basketball reference image, copy it and paste it into a new layer in your new image. Close the reference image. Now take the pen tool set to magnetic and create a path around one of the orange sections of the ball. Then right click, and make it a selection. Create a new layer. Then fill the selection with a shade of orange as close to the baseball's color as possible. Now click deselect.

Continue this process until you have filled in all the orange sections. Then create a new layer under your orange sections but above the reference image.

    • 3

Go to the Tool panel, and select the Fill tool. Make sure the color is set to black, and fill the new layer with black.

    • 4

Now go to the reference image layer, and select the basketball. Reselect the black fill layer. Then go to Selection, and click Inverse. Then Selection and Modify, and pick Expand. The hit Delete on your keyboard.

    • 5

Delete the reference image layer. Go back to the orange sections layer. Go to Filters, and Noise, and select Add Noise. Make the setting 10, Uniform, and Monochromatic. And there you have it, a stylized basketball.
