How to Clean Smelly Sandals
When summer comes, it can be a necessity to dress in cooler apparel for the warm weather. You should wear not only cooler clothes, but you need to wear shoes that your feet more easily breathe as well. Sandals provide a sturdy surface to walk upon, while allowing feet to not have to be trapped in confining, suffocating shoes. However, increased perspiration can come along with the warm weather, and that can leave a stink in those sandals. As sweat soaks into them, it can create a most unpleasant odor. Things You'll Need
- Spray deodorant Cedar wood oil Sandalwood oil Fabric softener Plastic bag Baking soda Old toothbrush Laundry detergent Sponge

For Plastic and Cloth Sandals

Wash the sandals in the washing machine on the cold water setting.

Place the sandals outside in the sun to dry.

Spray the sole of the sandals with deodorant. Do so before each future use. This will help to block sweat from getting in, and it also prevents odor.
For Sandals that can't be Washed in a Washing Machine

Sprinkle baking soda or laundry detergent on the sandals liberally.

Scrub the sandals with an old toothbrush dipped in clean water.

Allow the sandals to dry completely outside in the sun.

Place a fabric softener sheet on the sole of each sandal. Place it in a plastic bag overnight to eliminate any odor.

It helps to not wear the same sandals every day. This gives them a chance to dry out. Drop one drop of cedar wood oil and one drop of sandalwood oil onto each sandal daily to prevent an unpleasant smell.
