How to Reboot Windows XP Without a CD
If you own a PC computer that runs the Windows XP operating system, having the Windows installation CD can be useful when you want to run system diagnostics or utilities. However, you can perform all basic computer functions, including rebooting your computer, without the CD. Rebooting your computer is usually required after you install a new piece of software on your system.

Close all programs and windows that you currently have open on your computer by clicking the "X" symbol.

Open the Start menu by clicking on the icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.

Click on the "Shut Down" button in the Start menu. A dialog box will open with several options to choose from.

Select the "Restart" option from the drop-down menu.

Click the "OK" button. Your computer will now begin to shut down. Once it is fully turned off, the computer will automatically reboot itself and launch Windows XP again.
