1
Check your Fiero's electrical sensors. Using the voltmeter you can gauge the electrical sensors that send information to the vehicle's computer. Consult your owner's manual to perform accurate and safe readings on your car parts. If your sensors are struggling to send information or sending inaccurate amounts of electricity it can decrease your fuel performance. Check the Resources link below for information regarding sensor maintenance.

2
Use synthetic motor oil and transmission. These types of lubricants have a lower viscosity in the engine and will help to reduce friction in the Fiero parts in colder weather. This allows the engine and pistons to work less hard, increasing fuel efficiency. Check the Resources bar for more information on these lubricants.

3
Avoid snow tires if possible. Snow tires increase rolling resistance giving you an inaccurate idea of your actual fuel mileage. If you live in an area where snow tires are necessary, remember to remove these as early in the spring as possible to obtain accurate fuel usage figures. Snow tires for Fieros are generally taller than regular tires.

4
Check your hoses. Fiero's vacuum hoses tend to harden and crack over time. Replacing these parts increases airflow and reduces the engine's need to work harder to pull oxygen into the system for acceleration.

5
Drive economically. Keep a low weight on the vehicle and remove roof racks when not needed. Observe posted speed limits as they are most conducive to increased gas mileage (30 to 50 mph). Maintain speed with cruise control as it provides a consisten flow of fuel. Avoid idling and warming up the vehicle. This pulls unnecessary fuel.
