Things You'll Need:
- Wood glue Drill Welder Circular saw 12 nylon lock nuts Clear polyurethane finish 4, 4-by-4 inch by 1/4-inch steel mounting plates 3, 1 1/2-inch galvanized pipe couplings 3, 1 1/2-inch pieces of galvanized steel pipe (31 inches long) 12, 2 1/2-inch by 3/8-inch Bolts 2 pieces of 3/4-inch plywood Level
-
Step 1
Glue the two pieces of plywood together. Allow them to dry for at least 24 hours.
-
Step 2
Cut the plywood into the shape you desire for the table. The front should measure 27 inches across. The back of the portable shooting bench should measure 15 inches across. The total length of the table from front to back should be 36 inches. After cutting down the plywood this far, test it out to see if you wish to cut any indentations into the board to make shooting easier. Some shooters prefer this, while others like the board simply cut at a straight angle.
-
Step 3
Finish the tabletop by sanding the edges and applying the polyurethane finish. Allow it to dry for at least 24 hours.
-
Step 4
Weld the couplings, with the threaded side out, to the steel mounting plates at an 18-degree angle. Bolt them to the tabletop with the couplings angled away from the middle of the table.
One mounting plate should be attached to each front corner. And one plate should be attached at the middle of the back of the tabletop. -
Step 5
Screw the legs into the couplings to complete the portable shooting bench.
