How to Make a Prom Balloon Arch
Creating a balloon arch for a prom is a great way to frame the entrance to the dance floor or where the pictures will be taken. It is fairly inexpensive and can be done without the help of a professional. The balloons can be purchased at any balloon or supply store or ordered online. Helium tanks can be rented from most party or balloon supply stores.
Instructions

1
Attach one end of the kite string to one of the weights. Make sure the string is secure before you start attaching the balloons.
-
2
Inflate your balloons using the helium tank.

3
Attach all your balloons in groups of two by tying their knots together. You'll want to group balloons that are the same color. For example, if the balloons' colors are wine and gold, tie all the gold balloons in sets of two and tie all the wine balloons in sets of two.
-
4
Take one set of each color and hold them so that the knots are on either side of the string.
-
5
Twist the balloons together with the kite string in the middle. Twist the balloons several times until they are securely attached to the string. Make sure as you attach the balloons that the clusters stay close together so you can't see in between the balloons.
-
6
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until the balloon arch is the desired size.
-
7
Cut the end of the kite string and tie it to the second weight. You can move the balloon arch to its needed location by carrying the weights. You'll need a second person to move the arch so both weights can be lifted and moved at the same time.

Tips & Warnings
You may need to order your balloons online to get the exact colors you are looking for. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time for the balloons to be shipped. You will probably want the balloon colors to match the prom's theme colors.
Reserve your helium tank as soon as you know the date it will be needed. Also call ahead for pricing. The cost of helium has gone up in recent years.
