How to Make a Camper Shower Curtain

Making a camper shower curtain for an RV is really no different than making one for your home except they are usually not as wide. Even a few extra inches can make a big difference in the drape of a shower curtain and the space it takes up in a camper. This project is easy to do and is made with simple tab ties. Tab ties make it easy to take your camper shower curtain down and toss it into a washer because there are no rings to deal with and no worries about misplacing or breaking them. Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut a length of the fabric 63 inches long. If using fabric that is not 54 inches wide, you will need to piece fabric to measure 54 inches wide by 63 inches long.

    • 2

Fold 1/4 inch to the wrong side on one long edge of the camper shower curtain. Press with your fingers. Fold over 1/4 inch again and pin. Top stitch the 1/4 inch hem. Repeat for the opposite side, top and bottom of your camper shower curtain.

    • 3

Measure and cut ten pieces of nylon fabric 3 inches wide by 12 inches long for the camper shower curtain ties.

    • 4

Fold a shower curtain tie piece in half lengthwise with the right sides together. Match the raw edges and pin. Sew both ends and the raw edges on the long side together using a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Leave a 2 inch opening in the middle of the long side for turning. Turn the tie right side out and press with your fingers. Hand sew the opening closed. Repeat for the remaining nine camper shower curtain ties.

    • 5

Lay the camper shower curtain wrong side up on your flat work surface. Find the center at the top of the camper shower curtain. Fold a tie in half, matching the short ends. Pin the folded end of the tie to the hem at the center back of the shower curtain. Fold and pin the remaining ties 6 inches apart along the top hem of the camper shower curtain. Note: The ties on each end will not be 6 inches from the previous ties. Top stitch along the top hem, attaching the ties as you sew. Tie the camper shower curtain to the rod to hang.

Tips & Warnings

  • If pressing the fabric with your fingers is not effective, place a pressing cloth over the fabric and press with a warm iron. Watch carefully so as not to melt the fabric. To speed up the construction of your camper shower curtain, you can machine stitch the opening closed on the curtain ties.
