How To Make Cutlery Jewelry

Measure the butter knife handle from the end up on the shaft four inches. Mark the spot using masking tape. Clamp the knife to your work surface, with the blade end extended beyond the work surface. Cut the knife handle at the mark using the hacksaw. Be patient and use firm smooth strokes. This will prevent your blade from snapping and will make your cut smoother.

File the cut end of the knife handle toward its hollow center. File and smooth on all sides so that any sharp or rough edges will be in the hollow of the handle. This will prevent any edges from being exposed that may cause accidental injury.

Clean the cut knife handle using the silver cleaner, and wash it thoroughly with soap and water. Apply household cement to the pin back. Decide which side is the back and attach the pin back to the upper back of the knife handle. The cut end of the handle is the top of the cutlery jewelry brooch. The hinge of the pin back is at the top. Allow the household cement adhesive to dry.

Cut small bits of dried flowers to fit into the knife handle hollow. You will want the flowers to extend from the cutlery about an inch. Apply craft glue to the inside of the handle to secure. Cut a miniature rose bud and glue onto the opening with the craft glue.

Cut a 12" piece of 1/8 inch-wide satin ribbon. Use a color to match the flowers. Tie the ribbon into a small bow and trim the ends. Apply craft glue to the back of the bow on the knot. Attach the bow to the cutlery below the handle's cut edge. Allow the glue to dry.
