How to Build a Rolling TV Cart

Do you want to roll your TV from room to room? This article walks you through step-by-step instructions on building a simple rolling TV cart that holds a TV up to 25 inches. The cart includes two shelves for additional storage below your TV. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Cutting The Pieces for Your Rolling TV Cart

      Take the plywood and measure out 2 pieces that are 2' 6" long and 2' wide. Cut these out for the top and bottom of the cart.

      Measure out two more pieces on the plywood 2' square, and cut them out. They are the sides of your cart.

      Measure and cut another 2' 4 1/2" long and 2' wide piece for the middle shelf of your cart

      Sand any rough edges off all the cut pieces, and apply the wood stain or paint of your choice.

    Building Your TV Cart

      Take one of the 2' 6" x 2' pieces for the top, and attatch the side panels on each end so that the top is sitting on the sides. Screw the sides to each 2' end of the top. You now have three sides of a rectangle.

      Screw the 2' 4 1/2" x 2' piece for the middle shelf between the sides of your cart Attatch it 6" below the top, and use three screws on each side.

      Attatch the bottom of your cart to the ends of the sides.

      Screw two corner brackets on each bottom inside corner to add strength and prevent the sides from wobbling over time. You may want to paint them to blend in to the cart. Attatch 2" inwards from each outer edge.

      Attatch each castor underneath the bottom to all four corners of your cart.

      Stand your TV cart on the castors, and it is now ready.
