Connect the audio output on the DVR to your home theater receiver. Use the digital coaxial connection for surround sound, or analog RCA connection (left and right) for stereo sound. Be sure to use the appropriate cables (coaxial or RCA cables) for the type of connection you're making.

Tips & Warnings

  • For an HD signal, you'll need to use HDMI or component video cable. HDMI carries both video and surround sound audio, so if using an HDMI, connect the cable from your DVR to your home theater receiver's HDMI input and then from your receiver's HDMI out to your television. Or connect HDMI directly from DVR to TV and audio separately to the home theater receiver.

  • Keep all components OFF when making connections.
