The available colors always seem to clash with what's around it, and even though it may have seemed like a good deal in the store, it is now an eyesore in the home. Fortunately painting laminate furniture is very easy to do. With very minimal effort the piece can be transformed into something that suits the home and fits in with its surroundings.   • Sandpaper 100, 220, and 320 grit Kilz oil based primer Paint brush Paint roller

Instructions

    • 1

      Sand the furniture with 100-grit sandpaper until the top layer is completely removed. Make sure any dust and debris is completely cleaned off of the furniture by using a clean damp cloth. Make sure that the furniture is complexly dry before priming.

      Apply Kilz oil based primer with a paint brush or roller and allow it to dry.

      Sand it again with a piece of 220-grit sandpaper. Be sure to remove all dust and debris.

      Use a roller to paint the furniture with the desired color in a latex paint once all of the primer is completely dry.

      Sand the area again with 320-grit sandpaper. Be sure to remove all dust and debris.

      Allow time for the paint to dry before adding a second coat.

      Allow the furniture at least 24 hours before using it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ventilate the area well or do the project outside on a sunny day. Paint fumes can be hazardous.
