Widgets can be a useful tool to keep a frequently used website or service at your fingertips on your computer desktop.
By placing a widget on your desktop that connects directly to a website that you visit often, you have direct access to your favorite websites without having to navigate there through your browser.
There are many options for creating desktop widgets. Here is a short overview of three different services that a user may choose.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create a desktop widget by visiting Snippage and downloading the free widget-maker. Once downloaded, this program has a simple interface that will walk you through the creation of a widget for whatever website you want to have easy and direct access to. There are some added features as well, such as automatic reloading of the websites on your widgets.

  2. Step 2

Create a desktop widget with Widgadget. This free service enables you to customize your own widget in three simple steps.
Begin the process by creating a free account and then selecting to create a desktop widget. Then you must verify that the website you wish to widgetize has the correct format. After verifying the feed, you can customize your widget to look exactly the way you want. After customizing your widget, you only need to finish selecting a few more widget details, and the widget is finished. Click send to complete the process.

  3. Step 3

Create a desktop widget with 360Desktop. This free download enables you to create customized widgets for your desktop out of videos, music, websites and other media. This is another option for people who visit specific websites often and want to have direct access through their desktop.
After downloading and installing, open the application and select "add a new widget." You will enter the URL for the desired website, enter a few more details, and the widget will be created.
