How to Become a Model in the UK
Top models are some of the most well known people in the world. Many people consider modeling to be a glamorous profession complete with photo shoots in exotic locations, glamorous parties, opportunities to meet many people and the best life has to offer. However, the reality is that modeling actually requires persistence, dedication and hard work.

1
Be at least 5 foot 7 inches tall or taller, and have a unique face. Having a unique face means that the face is either unusually beautiful in a classic sense, or is uncommon or atypical in a way that fits whatever the fashion industry wants at the moment.
-
2
Get some photographs of yourself taken by a professional photographer who has worked with models before. If you cannot afford to hire a professional photographer, get a friend to take photographs of you using a digital camera. Get a photograph of your face and a photograph of your whole body. Wearing blue jeans and a T-shirt in the photograph is fine.

Find a reputable modeling agency to represent you. Send your photographs to top UK modeling agencies located in London, such as Storm, Select, Models 1 or IMG (see Resources below). Send your photographs to these agencies, and they will call you if interested. Some agencies also have open calls where they allow aspiring models to come to the agency in person.

4
Assemble a portfolio. Work with photographers and make a good impression. Be polite, be patient, be a good listener, follow the photographer's instructions and have a positive attitude.
-
5
Understand that there are different types of modeling, such as runway modeling (fashion shows), fitness modeling, plus-sized modeling, swimsuit modeling and other types of modeling. The type of modeling you think you are best suited for may not be the type of modeling that the modeling agency thinks you are best suited for.

Tips & Warnings
Be persistent. If one modeling agency says no, another agency may say yes. Eat well, sleep well and exercise. Stay away from substance abuse, and have fun while working as a model--if you're having fun, it will come through in your photographs and that can be helpful.
Make sure the modeling agency is reputable.
