Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 24 inches 1mm cording (choose your color) Beading thread (complimentary color) Multi-colored seed beads (size 11/0) Alphabet beads to spell name (size 11/0) Beading needle 2 end crimps for the cording Needle nose pliers Lobster Claw clasp

Making a Thread Woven Name Bracelet

  1. Step 1

Fold the cording in half. Hold the cording so that the fold is up and the tails are hanging down. Approximately 1/2 inch down from the fold at the top, tie the beading thread onto one of the cording tails. Hold the cording with the knotted thread on the right side.

  2. Step 2

Place one of the multi-colored seed beads onto the beading thread and pass the beading thread over the cording on the left cording tail. Pass over the top of the cording.

  3. Step 3

Pull the beading thread back around the bottom of the cording, and pass the beading thread through the same seed bead again. It's very important to maintain tight tension to keep the beads in their positions along the cording.

  4. Step 4

Pass the beading thread over the top of the cording tail on the right and then up from the bottom. Add another seed bead to the beading thread. Pass the beading thread over the top of the cording on the left side, and then up again from underneath. Pass the thread through the same seed bead again. As you can see, you are performing a threading stitch through the seed beads with the beads being added between the two lengths of cording.

  5. Step 5

Continue adding multi-colored seed beads until you reach slightly less than halfway on the cording. Add the alphabet beads in progression to spell the desired name. After the alphabet beads have been woven, continue the second half of the bracelet with multi-colored seed beads until the bracelet is the desired length.

  6. Step 6

Finish the bracelet by crimping the two loose ends of cording with the crimp beads. Place a crimp bead on the cording, make a small loop with the cording, and pass the end of the cording back into the crimp. Squeeze the crimp in the needle-nose pliers to secure the cording in the crimp. Clip off excess cording. Do this for both right and left cords.
Add one side of the lobster clasp to the crimped ends of the cording and the other side of the clasp to the folded side of the cording.
