How to Install a MSN Webcam
MSN's instant message system is one of the most popular messengers on the web. IMs are even quicker and more feature-filled than email. With the addition of a webcam, chatting becomes almost as intimate as a face-to-face encounter. Setup is simple. You'll be video-chatting with your family, friends and work contacts in no time.

1
Install the software that came with your webcam. Usually, the webcam comes with a CD that will take you through software installation step-by-step. If you don't have a CD, you can download MS Windows Media Encoder for free (see Resources). Once you open the downloaded file, you'll again be taken step-by-step through software installation.
-
2
Once the software is successfully installed, shut down your computer. Reboot.
-
-
3
Connect one end of a USB cord to your webcam, and the other to the USB port on your computer.
-
4
Place the webcam on top of the computer screen or next to it, making sure it is at the correct vantage point for relaying your image.
-
5
Your webcam is installed. Now you need to get onto the MSN Messenger to start your video chat.
-
6
If you don't have an MSN Messenger account, go to the MSN website and create one (see Resources). Once your account is set up, or if you have an account already, log in.

In your messenger window, under your display picture, there should be a webcam icon. Click on the icon.
-
8
Find and select the person you want to send your video to, and click "Send My Webcam." A message will be sent to the other party.

9
As soon as the other party accepts your webcam invite, your live video feed will launch.
