A swimming pool can be a very big investment. It is also a permanent addition to your yard and not easily removed if you change your mind about pool ownership. Intex pools offer a temporary option to traditional swimming pools. They are easy to set up and take down and do not require the extra care and maintenance of a large pool. Furthermore, with prices starting under $100, they are an inexpensive swimming pool alternative.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Air pump Water supply Hose Sand Pool chemicals Pool test kit Filter Filter hoses Filter stopper caps
  1. Step 1

Read all instructions and watch setup video if available.

  2. Step 2

Locate a level area in your yard to set up your pool.

  3. Step 3

Unfold pool and spread over selected area, trying to remove as many wrinkles from bottom as possible. Be sure the drain hole is screwed shut.

  4. Step 4

Inflate top ring around pool using an air pump. This ring must be inflated at all times or the pool will lose water.

  5. Step 5

Place hose in pool and fill bottom with a few inches of water.

  6. Step 6

Walk around bottom of pool and try to remove any remaining wrinkles with your hands and / or feet.

  7. Step 7

Place black stoppers in the filter holes on the side of the pool.

  8. Step 8

Fill pool with water. This will take the better part of a day, depending upon the size of your pool.

  9. Step 9

Install paper filtering device into the pool filter.

  10. Step 10

Attach the filter. The lowest hole on the side of the pool is for the hose that will remove dirty water from the pool and run it through the filter. The higher hole is for the water being returned from the filter. Once the filter is attached, remove black stoppers. This will allow water to flow through the filter.

  11. Step 11

Put starter chemicals in pool according to packaging instructions.

  12. Step 12

Turn on filter and run for eight hours to start.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you cannot find a level area, you will need to use sand to build up a level base for your pool. Store the black stoppers in a convenient location. They will only be used during setup. If you have a high mineral content in your water supply, you will need to change your filter after about two days of installation. Filters should be changed every one to two weeks for the remainder of the swimming season. Test pool water before allowing anyone to use pool. Depending upon the weather conditions, it could take several days for the water to warm to a suitable swimming temperature.
