Things You'll Need:

  • 2- to 4-inch-wide satin ribbon on a spool Large white ponytail holders or pew holders Scissors
  1. Step 1

Cut an 18-inch piece of ribbon and tie a loose knot in the center of it. Set it aside.

  2. Step 2

Pull several feet of ribbon from the spool. Pinch the ribbon about 12 to 15 inches from the end. Form a 5-inch-long loop and hold it between your thumb and forefinger.

  3. Step 3

Twist the ribbon to be sure that the right side of the ribbon is up. Form a second loop directly opposite the first loop.

  4. Step 4

Twist the ribbon and form a third loop next to the first loop.

  5. Step 5

Continue until you have six to eight loops.

  6. Step 6

Pull the long piece of ribbon with the knotted center around the bow. Keep the knot in the center of the bow.

  7. Step 7

Turn the bow over in your hand. Draw the ends of the ribbon around the back. Tie the ribbon to hold bow together. Thread a ponytail holder on to one end of the ribbon if you can use it. Knot the ribbon tightly. Fluff the bow, smoothing any folds.

  8. Step 8

Cut the four end pieces of the bow at a slant.
