It is best to install liner in above ground pools on a warm day to help get a crease free installation. Otherwise you may need to get that liner out into the sun for a while to warm it up. Day one of an above ground pool installation should not include installing the liner. Install the liner on day two when your fresh and ready for the task ahead. Ensure the rails of the pool are already fitted.

Start by simply unfolding the liner and spread it out. And place it over the walls of the pool. Use the provided clips to hold the liner in place on the rails, probably half way down. Be careful walking inside the pool area so that you do not disturb the sand base to much while installing the liner. You can get a foam type base that goes on top of the sand to provide a perfect bottom finish. At this stage, the pool liner possibly will not be even touching the bottom of the pool.

Begin filling the pool a little bit at a time, help to stretch the pool liner carefully and slowly. As the pool begins to fill, release the clips of the rail one at a time to let more of the liner into the pool, and re-clip it higher up the rail. You want to do this stage with at least two of you going slowly and slowly releasing more of the liner into the pool so that as it fills there will be no creases.

Depending on the type of above ground pool you have, you may have hooks for the liner or just clips. Either way, you will have some kind of plastic fitting that fits on the top of the pool walls that helps secure the liner. Most people when they install pool liner understand the mechanics of how the liner is secured, it's the process of initially filling the pool and getting a crease free installation.
