How to get your name out there and land a job as a nanny.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Contacts (not the kind for your eyes)
  1. Step 1

    1. The first thing you need to do is talk to your acquaintances and let them know that you're seeking a nanny position. People know people. I got my first nanny job because my sister told her friends and, as it turns out, one of those friends had a sister that needed a nanny. So there you are.

  2. Step 2

    2. Make your contact information readily available. If someone learns about you but has to track you down, the likelihood of anything coming to fruition is very low. However, if you have cards printed up or even just give your information to everyone you talk to, you're more likely to hear from someone. Additionally, give more than one way to contact you; phone number, email, etc.

  3. Step 3

    3. If you land an interview or meet-up with a family looking for a nanny, remember to do a lot of listening but also let them know about who you are, where you come from, and what you're looking for as a nanny. After all, these are people looking for someone to watch over their children, so the more familiar they are with you, the better.

  4. Step 4

    4. Finally, once you have a job as a nanny, communicate with the parents openly and regularly. Parents need to feel like they are still the parents and know everything going on with you and their children. Having good relationships with the parents is just as important as it is with the children.
