Things You'll Need:
- A pound cake (any flavor you like)
- 8 ounce tub of cool whip (thawed)
- Skittles Candy
- Assorted candies for "jewels"
- 1 Pretzel rod cut into thirds
- Two pieces of licorice (cut into 1 inch each)
- Two pretzels
-
Step 1
Cut 1/2 inch slice off the top of the cake and set aside. Hollow out the center of the cake, leaving 1/2 inch shell on the bottom and sides.
-
Step 2
Spoon 1 cup of the whipped topping into the cake shell. Frost the sides with 1 1/2 cups whipped topping.
-
Step 3
Refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, place the assorted "jewels" over the whipped topping in the cake shell.
-
Step 4
Angle the reserved cake slice over the jewels using the pretzel rod pieces to resemble open chest lid.
-
Step 5
Frost the "lid" with the remaining whipped topping. Decorate the cake with the skittles. Add the pretzels for the handles.
-
Step 6
Display on a piece of cardboard covered in gold foil paper. Toss some chocolate coins around the table.
