Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A pound cake (any flavor you like)
  • 8 ounce tub of cool whip (thawed)
  • Skittles Candy
  • Assorted candies for "jewels"
  • 1 Pretzel rod cut into thirds
  • Two pieces of licorice (cut into 1 inch each)
  • Two pretzels
  1. Step 1

Cut 1/2 inch slice off the top of the cake and set aside. Hollow out the center of the cake, leaving 1/2 inch shell on the bottom and sides.

  2. Step 2

Spoon 1 cup of the whipped topping into the cake shell. Frost the sides with 1 1/2 cups whipped topping.

  3. Step 3

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Just before serving, place the assorted "jewels" over the whipped topping in the cake shell.

  4. Step 4

Angle the reserved cake slice over the jewels using the pretzel rod pieces to resemble open chest lid.

  5. Step 5

Frost the "lid" with the remaining whipped topping. Decorate the cake with the skittles. Add the pretzels for the handles.

  6. Step 6

Display on a piece of cardboard covered in gold foil paper. Toss some chocolate coins around the table.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have some costume jewelery, mix it in with the chocolate coins on the table.
