Things You'll Need:
- Your Green Card
- Any additional ID
- If you are with your spouse, his/her ID, Bank Statement, etc.

Step 1
First you will need to know if you are eligible? How long have you been a Permanent Resident?
Take a look at your green card. What is the date for the part that says "Resident Since..."
*If you have obtained your green card through marriage and you are still married, then you can apply for your U.S. Citizenship 90 days prior to your 3rd year anniversary of the date on your green card.
*If you have obtained your green card through any other way such as employment, parents, etc. then you are eligible to do so 90 days prior to your 5th year anniversary of the on your green card. -
Step 2
Fill out the form N-400, Application for Naturalization. Fee will cost you $675.00. You can obtain this form from USCIS.gov >> Immigration Forms.

Send it to the appropriate processing center depending on the state you live in. You can find the address by looking at instructions sheet of the form.

Make sure you have completed the form carefully and completely.

You will receive notice saying that your application has been received.

Step 6
Get ready for you U.S. Citizenship test. You will need to take a test, that proves your knowledge of the U.S. History and the Government.

You will receive a notice for an interview date.

Go to the appropriate address given to you at your local USCIS office on time for your interview. Make sure you have appropriate items with you. Have your green card with you. Bring your spouse with you if you got your green card through your spouse. You might be asked for yours and your spouse's drivers license/ID , a joint bank statement, etc.

After passing the interview, you will receive a mail with an Oath date for your naturalization.

As soon as you complete taking an oath, you are now a Naturalized U.S. Citizen! Congrats!!!

Finally you can now apply for your U.S. Passport.
