Some individuals have problems with facial pores. Pores on your nose and pores on your face can look large, and even makeup doesn't seem to even your complexion and close the pores. Thankfully, there are methods to shrink and minimize pores, as well as ways to hide pores. Learn how to shrink and tighten pores for a smooth, even complexion and perfect skin tone.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the size of your large pores, as well as where on your face the enlarged pores occur. The facial beauty method that you take toward shrinking pores differs depending where the large pores are on your face.

  2. Step 2

Take into account the season and temperature. Pores on the face and nose may grow and become larger in times of higher temperatures and humidity (e.g. the summer season). Your pores become enlarged when you sweat and release oil. Methods to minimize pore size and close pores will rarely prevent large pores from becoming larger due to environmental and biological purposes.

  3. Step 3

Wash your face twice a day with a soothing facial cleanser intended to shrink pores and minimize pore size. Sometimes, a buildup of oil can cause pores to become clogged and look bigger. Removing oil buildup can help close pores. Use warm water to improve the efficacy of the cleanser. A good facial soap works to close pores by going deep inside pores in the facial skin and deep cleaning to remove excess oil. Examples include Neutrogena Pore Refining Cleanser and Olay Regenerist Pore Scrub. Both may help to hide pores and shrink enlarged facial pores, and the Olay cleanser also has anti-aging properties. These cleansers may be purchased at your local drugstore or online on Amazon (link in the Resources section at the end of this article).

  4. Step 4

Follow the facial cleanser with a moisturizing toner. Some toners may help reduce pore size. Use a clean cotton swab to lightly brush the toner over your face where you have problems with big pores, such as your cheeks and nose. Various companies, such as Murad's Clarifying Toner, promise to shrink large pores while also deep-cleaning. Toners can be found in your favorite department store's beauty section, or online on Amazon (link in the Resource section).

  5. Step 5

Smooth a specialized pore refining facial lotion over your enlarged pores to shrink them. Some chemicals, such as alpha hydroxy acid and beta hydroxy acid, may help to prevent large pores and minimize pore appearance. Such lotions also have the added benefit of potentially minimizing the size of wrinkles and other skin blemishes. Examples include Olay Regenerist Daily Regenerating Serum (with concentrated Amino-Peptide Complex) and Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner Cream with Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Formula. Such pore-shrinking facial moisturizers can be purchased at your local drugstore, or online (links in the Resources section).
