Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
    Choose your roses!
    Choose your roses!

Before you start this project, note that there are many options to approaching this project. Silk roses work best since they are perfect, easier to work with, last forever, and less delicate than real roses. Decide on which color or color combination you'd like, or mix it up for a unique look. One open rose will look lovely, or consider several rose buds. Greenery or leaves can be added as well. If you are making these for a wedding or a special event, create several prototypes to choose from.

  2. Step 2
Cardboard tubes act as the base.
Cardboard tubes act as the base.

Any round tube shape will do, although hard cardboard ones are the cheapest option and can be found at the larger craft stores like Michael's. Toilet paper or paper towel tubes work very well, but might take a while to collect!
Cut the tubes into even widths.

  3. Step 3
Paint the base for a more finished look
Paint the base for a more finished look

Depending on the final look and the amount of roses that will be added on top, you may want to paint the tubes, for a more finished look. Acrylic craft paint works well. Consider a dark green nature-inspired background, or maybe gold or silver. Experiment if you don't already know what you'd like.

  4. Step 4

After the paint has dried on the tubes, cut and arrange the silk flowers on the tube, then remove, add craft glue, and set aside to dry. If your silk flowers have wire stems, you may be able to wrap them around instead of having to glue them.
Ribbon can be added as a final step, coordinating with other decorations. Name tags can be added to the ribbon to serve as place settings!

Tips & Warnings
  • Any type of flower will work!
  • Children will enjoy creating these for Mom for Mother's Day!
  • Inexpensive plastic napkin holders or ponytail holders can be substituted for the cardboard tubes.

on 3/21/2009 They look beautiful. I think they would work just as well with other silk flowers, too. I might just head over to the craft store and give it a try. 5*
