Healthy dog treats don't have to be difficult or tasteless. Make easy treats today that are safe for allergies, gluten intolerance and are just plain yummy. You can eat them too!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • sweet potato
  • egg
  • cinnamon
  • oats
  • cookie sheet
  • mixing bowl
  • flour
  • olive oil
  • vanilla
  1. Step 1

To mixing bowl add one med to large cooked sweet potato skin removed. You can also use a large jar of organic sweet potato baby food. Mash potato with fork to make smooth.

  2. Step 2

Add one egg, one cup oats, teaspoon vanilla, tablespoon cinnamon and one teaspoon olive oil, mix thoroughly. Add flour to the mix until it is firm and not sticky.

  3. Step 3

Roll out mixture onto counter top or sheet to cut out. Use rolling pin or just your hands until about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes with cookie cutter. Larger shapes work better. Put onto greased cookie sheet. Cook at 325 until light brown on the bottom. Dehydrate if possible or let stay in cooling oven. Cookies will last several months if dehydrated.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a non wheat flour to avoid allergy issues such as Rye, Barley, Coconut etc
  • Larger cookie cutters are easier to cut out.
  • Grease counter top or sheet to cut out cookies with olive oil. They won't stick and it is still good for dogs.
  • Use a dehydrator to make the cookies last longer or leave in a cooling oven until cold.
  • Use organic Pam olive oil spray or another natural spray for greasing the cookie sheet.
  • Cookies will mold if kept out more than a couple of days. Freeze or dehydrate for longer life.
