Of course aquarium decorations can be bought at a pet store, but these often look very fake... well because they are! Treat your fish to some real decorations, and do it cheaply too! You can decorate a fish tank for free!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Driftwood
  • rocks
  • silk plants
  • pot
  • stove
  1. Step 1

Gather your materials. Take a walk on the beach, or outside and find interesting pieces of dense wood. Look for interesting rocks, making sure they are the appropriate size for your aquarium.

  2. Step 2

If you are interested in using silk plants, these can be bought at craft stores. Choose ones that can easily be anchored to the ground, rock or wood. Also make sure the plants are not too tall for the aquarium, or that they can easily be cut to size.

  3. Step 3

Place rocks, and wood in pan and add water. Boil for a few minutes to remove any bacteria that could harm the fish.

  4. Step 4

Rinse wood and rocks with cold water. Rinse silk plants throughly as well.

  5. Step 5

Arrange wood, rocks and plants in the aquarium with a gravel base. This can be done with the tank already full with water, or by adding water afterwards.

  6. Step 6

Congratulations! you have created inexpensive aquarium decorations!

Tips & Warnings
