Step 1
First, you must determine what it is that you want to happen in your life. For some, it’s $1,000,000 in the bank for retirement. For others, it could be planning a vacation for the holidays. For people like me, it could be figuring out what to eat for dinner. The point is, once you have a solid goal in mind in order to begin the process of creating a plan.
-
Step 2
Once your goal is in place, think of all the ways that you can possibly realize it. This is going to require some creativity. Once you envision a possible chain of actions that will take you to your goal, you need to put it on paper. This is a crucial step that many people are too lazy to do and therefore find it excruciatingly difficult to reach their goals. Putting your ideas on paper allows you to clearly see and think through the process that you are choosing to reach your goal. If something doesn’t make sense to you, you can erase it and change it until your map is perfect.
-
Step 3
Somebody has already done what it is that you set out to do. That means that there’s already a plan out there that shows you how to reach your own goal. All you have to do is research it. It is important that you find examples of people who have already done what you want to do. You will learn what they did correctly as well as the mistakes they made. Most of the time this knowledge is free. There’s really no excuse for people who say that they don’t know how to do something. Get up and go find out how to do it!
-
Step 4
Once you have a plan in place, I guarantee that you will need people who support your plan. You will never be able to accomplish anything without the assistance of someone else so surround yourself with great people. If you aren’t now, you should always be networking and looking for people who have something to offer to the market place. Spark conversations with complete strangers and take their business cards. You may not be able to use their services right away, but you’ll want to have a variety of contacts in your database that you can call upon when you need to.
