Things You'll Need:
- Seeds
- Garden space
-
Step 1
Begin by picking the right plants for your area! The most common mistake is choosing a plant that is not able to survive in the climate that you're in. On the back of each seed pack it will tell you the ideal growth conditions of that plant, if the conditions match where you are go for it! If they do not it may be better to choose another plant. *Important Note*: Never through your seed packet away after planting the seeds. There is important information that you will need through the entire growing process.
-
Step 2
Always start your plants indoors! Ever planted your flowers and as soon as the push through the ground the last frost of the year comes through and takes them all out? This can be avoided by starting your seeds inside. Many garden stores carry seed starting trays and they are really cheap this is a great tool that should be used when starting a garden.
-
Step 3
Find a suitable area around your home to transfer the plants to once the seeds have germinated and are ready to be planted in the ground. Once again refer back to your seed packet. (Aren't you glad you kept it?!) The packet will tell you how much direct sunlight each plant needs to grow to it's potential. Once you have figured out the plants needs you can better place it around your home. This is the cause of many dead plants, not placing them in a proper growth setting. Sometimes the ideal spot will need some work, (clearing weeds, adding pot soil, etc.) this needs to be done before the area is used.
-
Step 4
When the seeds have germinated and are ready transfer them to the place you picked out and watch them grow! :) Follow these steps and a successful garden is at your fingertips!!
