How to Save Money Using Skype VOIP for Windows Mobile

Skype is a popular VOIP (voice over internet protocol) internet phone service that allows people to place local, national, and international phone calls for free over the internet. Owners of Windows Mobile smartphones and Pocket PCs can download Skype software to their devices and begin placing free calls over the internet (unlimited data plan recommended for Skype over 3G).

• Computer with broadband internet
• Windows Mobile smartphone or Pocket PC
• Unlimited data plan (data usage costs apply for using Skype over 3G mobile networks)

1. Before you begin the downloading process, connect your Windows Mobile smartphone or Pocket PC to your computer by USB cable or Bluetooth. If you have a PC, make sure Microsoft ActiveSync is running.

2. Point your web browser to http://skype.com/download/skype/windowsmobile. The Skype 2.5 for Windows Mobile page displays.

3. In the blue Skype 2.5 for Windows Mobile box, you'll see two options: Download for Pocket PC and Download for Smartphone.

4. If you have a Pocket PC, click the Download via PC button on the left hand side if you want to download Skype from your PC to your Windows Mobile Pocket PC. Directions for downloading via PC or downloading to phone are displayed. Alternatively, click download to Pocket PC in order to download Skype directly from your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.

5. If you have a Windows Mobile smartphone, click the Download via PC button on the right hand side if you want to download Skype from your PC to your Windows Mobile smartphone. Directions for downloading via PC or downloading to mobile phone are displayed. Alternatively, click download to Smartphone in order to download Skype directly from your Windows Mobile smartphone.

• With Skype for Windows Mobile, you get free Skype-to-Skype calls and free instant messaging using your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or smartphone.
• You can call non-Skype landline phones and mobile phones with Skype Credit or a subscription.
• Before you begin the downloading process, connect your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or smartphone to your computer by USB cable or Bluetooth. If you have a PC, make sure Microsoft ActiveSync is running.
• Data usage costs apply for using Skype over 3G mobile networks (EDGE, EV-DO and UMTS). Therefore, Skype recommends an unlimited data plan.
