How to Fill Easter Baskets

Easter is often celebrated with egg hunts and Easter baskets. Easter baskets are fun for people of all ages but sometimes it is difficult to think of things to fill them with. Themed baskets can help take the guesswork out of making the perfect basket.

  1. Step 1

    For your favorite athletic sports fanatics you can't go wrong with sports themed Easter baskets. Use a helmet or baseball hat in place of the basket and fill it with things such as sports cards, a water bottle, baseballs, tennis balls, golf balls, golf tees, shin guards, athletic socks, a baseball glove, a batting glove, a golf glove, a mouth guard, sunflower seeds, sun block, sports magazines, sports drinks, anything small your athlete might need.

  2. Step 2

    Gardening themed Easter baskets can be for school-aged children up to adults. Fill a basket, flower pot, wide brimmed hat, wheelbarrow, or small window box with seeds, gardening gloves, a hand shovel, hand trowel, and hand rake, sun block, an apron, and books on gardening. Children's tools can be found at Target, Walmart, and other department stores. If the you are making it for children you may want to include a coloring book about gardening and some crayons.

  3. Step 3

    If your child or person you are making a basket for is a book lover you may want to concentrate on a book theme. Include items like a clip on book light, a gift card to their favorite bookstore, a couple of good paperbacks, a magazine or subscription to a magazine they'd like, and a bookmark.

    If a budding artist is on your list for Easter baskets basic art supplies will be a fun and appreciated basket filler. Fill a basket or an art box with crayons, markers, watercolor paints, paint brushes, gel pens, paper, mini canvases, stickers, colored pencils, an art apron, glue sticks and glitter. Check your local drug stores, grocery stores, dollar stores, craft stores, and department stores for art supplies as well.

    Fill a photo storage box or Easter basket with a disposable camera, small photo album, a small scrapbook, scrapbook accessories, rolls of film, a camera case, and a couple of inexpensive photo frames.

  7. Step 7

    If you have a tween or teen girls in your life that need Easter baskets give them a spa in a basket (or tote or cosmetic bag). Lotion, nail polish, body wash, a manicure set, a soft fluffy face cloth, perfume, hand cream, foot cream, cotton socks, slippers, and an eye mask will help her feel pampered. Full sized items are great for the lotions and potions but so are small trial sized items and sample sized items especially if you don't know what products are their favorites. It's fun to sample a wide variety and samples can often be had for free.

  8. Step 8

    Teen and tween boys need Easter baskets too. Gift cards to a movie, a music store, or video game store are usually a big hit with boys that age. So is food. Fill their basket with favorite snacks, sports drinks, and add a gift card or DVD or CD.

    If you are filling a basket for an infant new booties, a receiving blanket, a small soft baby toy or rattle, a cute hooded towel, and baby food are useful gifts.

  10. Step 10

    When toddlers are on your list for Easter baskets outdoor toys, cars, trucks, baby dolls, stuffed animals, Play Doh, and bath toys are sure to please.

  11. Step 11

    Playing dress-up is a favorite for many children. Add some play silks, tiaras, a pirate patch, and other small dress-up accessories to give a child hours of pretend play.

  12. Step 12

    Adults that love their caffeine will be thrilled over Easter baskets filled with their favorite coffee, tea, chocolate spoons for stirring, and a couple of mugs.

  13. Step 13

    Speaking of chocolate don't forget the chocolate bunnies, eggs, and chicks. Easter is a chocolate lover's dream come true.
