How to Polish Military Shoes

The military prides it's self on appearance. Polished boots/shoes shows that you care about your appearance. This is a time consuming chore, but with practice can be reduced in time dramatically. Read below for further instructions.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Stiff Brush
  • Boot/Shoe Polish
  • Horse Hair Brush
  • Water
  1. Step 1

    First, knock off any mud or dirt that may be on the boots. This can be helped with the stiff brush.

  2. Step 2

    Next, take a rag and the polish. Spread the polish over the entire boot. Take and with the Horse Hair Brush the entire boot.

  3. Step 3

    Next, starting at the toe, take the rag dab a small amount of polish and water. In one area, rub the area in small circles. Continue to rub in small circles, dabbing the rag in water and polish.

  4. Step 4

    Continue to do this until the whole boot is done. Do this to the other boot. Now you should have very highly shined boots.

    On a final note, the only shoe the military has is the low-quarter shoe. They are patent Leather, and highly polished. To clean them, use window cleaner. This is the only thing needed to clean them.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the boots you are polishing are new, it will take 4 or five coats of polish to get them to shine.
