Plan a motorcycle ride for your friends. Learn how to put the plan together and everything you need to make the trip successful.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • motorcycle
  • helmet
  • gloves
  • long pants
  • food plan / reservations
  • overnight lodging
  • route plan
  1. Step 1

Plan the route for your trip. We recommend a route with 200 miles per day. That will allow plenty of time for stops, chatting along the way and seeing the sites. Take a trial ride with a few friends or on a cart. Take photos and collect brochures along the way for the pre-ride meeting

  2. Step 2

Determine which tasks you'd like to personally own for the ride. These may be ones you feel are critical to the success of the ride or have safety implications. You will want to personally own the medical emergency plan, determine who can administer first aid and who will carry the first aid kit. It's also wise for you to own the route plan although nice to ask for input.

  3. Step 3

Set up a task list for the ride. Include such items as overnight lodging, a buddy list, breakdown and repair plan, whether you'll have a chase car. Solicit ride participants to help out. See http://tinyurl.com/c2u868 for an online sign-up sheet. This lists many tasks you'll want to consider for the ride and how you can ask riders to help out.

  4. Step 4

Coordinate a pre ride meeting 1-3 weeks before the ride. This will give your riders plenty of information about the ride and raise their comfort level with the plan. At the meeting cover the details of the route. Hand out photos and brochures you took during the trial ride. Answer questions for participants and add them to the written plans.

  5. Step 5

A few hours before the ride conduct a pre ride safety check. Check for lights, turn signals, helmet sizing and more. Start your ride and have fun.
