In you are one of those people who suffers from snoring I think you will find this article beneficial because I'm going to give some tips on how to stop snoring fast. First, let me give you a brief description of what snoring is. Snoring is the sound produced by the movement of air during breathing while we are asleep. Usually, there is an obstruction in the air movement that causes the noise. There are a lot of causes of snoring and one of them is your position while you are sleeping. Snoring not only causes a disruption in the sufferer's breathing, but it also causes disruption in the sleep pattern of the family members. A loud snore is enough to wake a person who is sound asleep. Typically, snoring is more common among men than in women. So if you want to learn some simple ways on how to stop snoring fast, here are some guidelines that you might want to consider:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages cause a chemical reaction in your system therefore some of the normal processes that occur when you sleep are altered. Studies have proven that drinking alcohol increases the incidence of snoring and makes it louder than usual.

  2. Step 2

Limit your food intake at dinner. It is recommended to avoid eating too much especially at dinner time or before you sleep because during sleeping, the metabolic process is slower. The food that you eat will just cause abdominal distention, which increases the workload of the lungs during breathing.

  3. Step 3

Change your sleeping position. If you're used to sleeping on your back, then it is now time to shift position and might as well change to the side-lying position. Sleeping on your back prevents your lungs to expand that causes you to snore.

  4. Step 4

Take time to exercise. You should be physically fit in order to promote good circulation in your body. Snoring can be also caused by obstructions of fatty tissues; therefore, you should start eliminating your excess fat through exercise.

  5. Step 5

Seek medical help. There are rare cases when snoring is caused by a physical deformity. Visit your doctor to perform a check up on you.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid taking sleeping pills because it also causes snoring.
  • When sleeping, you can put additional pillows under your head to slightly elevate it.
  • As much as possible, take light meals at night and avoid foods that take time to digest.
  • Do not drink medications that promise relief from snoring. Only surgery can remove your snoring if it is caused by a physical deformity.
