If you want to brighten your hair at home, follow my easy tips for fool-proof highlights!

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Revlon Frost and Glow kit
  1. Step 1

Buy a highlight kit from the drugstore. One that works well is Revlon’s Frost and Glow kit.

  2. Step 2

Part your hair the way you normally wear it. Then, place the plastic cap over your head and pull the straps down tightly. Tie a bow under your neck.

  3. Step 3

Mix the highlighting mixture in the plastic bowl with the spatula that comes in the kit. Try not to breathe too much of the vapors while mixing since it is pretty strong.

  4. Step 4

Take the metal hook stick and began poking holes into the cap while pulling out thin strands of hair. Make sure you pull them out all the way.

  5. Step 5

As you pull the strands start to visualize where you want the highlights to be placed. If you want to focus on the front, make sure you pull enough strands around the front. Or if you’d like all over highlights, pull from the sides, front and the back.

  6. Step 6

Once you have all the strands pulled, use the spatula and start to apply the highlighting mixture onto the strands. Make sure the mixture is applied close to the root so the highlighted strands are even from root to tip.

  7. Step 7

Leave the mixture on for 30-45 minutes until desired lightness is reached. Once the time has passed, rinse the highlight mixture off without removing the cap.

  8. Step 8

Then once the mixture is rinsed off, removed the cap.

  9. Step 9

Shampoo and style hair as usual and enjoy your beautiful new highlights!
