Things You'll Need:
- paper, word processor, individual experience
-
Step 1
College admissions officers read through thousands of essays every year. So how do you make yours stand out? Think about a personal experience that only you could tell. Write about a trip you took, a moment that changed your perspective, an experience that is uniquely you. Your essay is the only change you get to make a personal impression on your admissions officer.
-
Step 2
Colleges don't just want a great story- they want to see that you're capable and deserving of a place in their school. So show them how your experience taught you something new! Let them see "good student" qualities in your essay.
-
Step 3
Proofread! Have SEVERAL people read over your paper: friends, teachers, family members, the more the better. Certain people will catch different errors that you could have potentially missed, and when it comes to your college application, you only get one shot- don't ruin it with simple errors that could have easily been avoided.
