How to sell items on Craigslist

With a rough economy, people are trying to make extra money to soften the blow. Craigslist is a wonderful way to earn cash and clean up your house while your at it! Simply find some items that you don't want and sell them on Craigslist.

Instructions

1. Find something around your house that you do not want. Take a picture of your item. Remember that you are selling a product so make sure you have a good picture. I make sure that my setting is attractive and the lighting is good.

2. Upload your picture onto your computer and then go to the Craigslist website. The first screen upon entering has a list of states. Click on your state. A list of the major cities in your state will appear on the next screen. Pick the city in which you live and click it. You are ready to post your item!

3. Look in the upper left hand corner of your screen and you will find the word POST. Click on it and you will be directed to categories of what your item best fits under. Click on your category and then write a description of what it is you are selling. Again, remember you are selling a product so make it clear. You can add your picture in the "Add an Image" section, which is right under the item description. Craigslist will then walk you through step by step to finish your posting.

4. Make sure to check your email often and answer any questions your buyer may have in a timely fashion. Craigslist will anonymize your email address to protect your privacy.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure to check your spelling! Currently Craigslist does not have a spell check. I copy my description then paste it in Word to check my grammar and spelling.
• It is important to follow the rules set up by Craigslist. It is also very important to be safe! Do not invite your potential buyer into your home. Meet them at the front door or if you are more comfortable, meet them in a public setting. It is a good idea to take someone with you when you meet.
