Peel and Mince Garlic Quickly and Easily

Ever wish there was an easy way to peel the skin off garlic? Well, here's a fast and easy way to peel garlic and mince it without having to buy a garlic press.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cutting board
  • strong cup
  • knife
  • garlic clove
  1. Step 1

Separate a clove of garlic from the garlic head. Place the clove flat side down on a cutting board.

  2. Step 2

Firmly thump the garlic clove with a strong cup. Turn the garlic clove over and thump it one more time.

  3. Step 3

You will see that the skin is no longer stuck to the garlic clove, making your job much easier! Simply pull the loosened skin away from the garlic clove.

  4. Step 4

Cut the brown end off the tip of the clove.

  5. Step 5

Make several slits in the garlic, cutting almost but not all the way to the top.

  6. Step 6

Turn the garlic clove and slice across the clove in the other direction. (Click on the photo to get a enlarged view of how to do this.)

Voila! Now you can enjoy your minced garlic in your favorite recipe.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don't want your hands to smell like garlic, wear gloves.
  • Try thumping the clove softly at first and add pressure with each thump until you get the hang of this. You don't want to completely mash the poor little clove!
