A StickyKeys window constantly popping up on the computer screen while you're trying to complete a project can be quite annoying. StickyKeys is activated by pressing the "Shift" key five times in sequence or by holding down a modifier key for longer than five seconds. When StickyKeys is activated in Windows, a beep is sounded whenever the "Shift," "Ctrl," "Windows" or "Alt" keys are pressed henceforth.

Getting the StickyKeys unstuck is actually pretty simple. In a few steps, you can rid yourself of this common PC annoyance.

      Disable StickyKeys by pressing both "Shift" keys at the same time. Another way to disable it is to press the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys simultaneously.

      If your goal is to turn StickyKeys off permanently, then navigate to the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel."

      Select "Accessibility" and "Accessibility Options." The Accessibility Options dialog appears.

      Select the "Keyboard" tab. Uncheck the "Use StickyKeys" box. Click "Apply" and "OK." You have unstuck StickyKeys.
